This
area of northwest Colorado offers a wealth of opportunites
for both the amateur and professional photographer. A diverse
range of wildflowers, birds and animals including the following
species have been observed.
- Elk,
mule deer and antelope.
- A
large variety of small birds; Warbling & Yellow Vireo,
Lazuli Bunting, Yellow Headed & Redwing Blackbirds,
American Gold Finches, Bluebirds, Hummingbirds, Mourning
Doves, and a large variety of song birds.

- Small
mammals including; beaver, pine squirrel, fox, coyotes,
chipmunks, badgers.
- Blue
grouse, wild ducks and geese.
- Mountain
lion.
- Hawks
and golden eagles.
- Bald
eagles are seen in the winter, but spend their summers closer
to the river.
- Wildflowers;
columbine, Indian paintbrush, wild asters, lupine and many
other species.
