This area of northwest Colorado offers a wealth of opportunites for both the amateur and professional photographer. A diverse range of wildflowers, birds and animals including the following species have been observed.

• Elk, mule deer and antelope.
• A large variety of small birds; Warbling & Yellow Vireo, Lazuli Bunting, Yellow Headed & Redwing Blackbirds, American Gold Finches, Bluebirds, Hummingbirds, Mourning Doves, and a large variety of song birds.
• Small mammals including; beaver, pine squirrel, fox, coyotes, chipmunks, badgers.
• Blue grouse, wild ducks and geese.
• Mountain lion.
• Hawks and golden eagles.
• Bald eagles are seen in the winter, but spend their summers closer to the river.
• Wildflowers; columbine, Indian paintbrush, wild asters, lupine and many other species.
